Heights Equities is a fourth-generation, family-owned investment and development firm. From a single Harlem building in 1925 to a diversified portfolio across the Southeast and beyond — we buy well, hold long, and stand behind our name.
It began with George Maloof, Sr., who arrived at Ellis Island in 1906 at seventeen years old. Odd jobs and years of saving led to one small building in Harlem — and everything since has been built on it, generation by generation, for one hundred years.
Seventeen-year-old George Maloof, Sr. arrives at Ellis Island from present-day Lebanon and takes whatever work he can find — including a quarry in upstate New York.
Years of saving make possible the purchase of a small residential building in Harlem. With family partners, George Sr. founds Maloof and Ellis Realty, specializing in mixed-use residential properties in uptown Manhattan — the business the family has carried forward, under evolving names, ever since.
Sons George Jr. and Bobby join after college and expand across New York and New Jersey — at its peak, the family owns 32 buildings.
Greg Maloof joins in the late 1970s and leads the firm after George Jr.'s retirement in 2008. Brenden Maloof joins in 2013, bringing a law degree and international business experience from Japan, Australia, and Silicon Valley.
Having sold most of its Northeastern holdings, Heights now invests in high-growth markets across the Southeast and beyond — managed day to day by Greg and Brenden, with Lesa Maloof-Vogliano as co-owner and board member. Today, Clark Maloof represents the fourth generation of the family in the business, leading day-to-day operations and carrying the firm into its second century.
Triple-net restaurant and specialty assets — like our Red Lobster properties in South Carolina and Utah — delivering dependable, long-term fixed income.
Purpose-built daycare and early-learning facilities in high-growth Southeast markets, including Big Blue Marble and Kiddie Academy locations.
Medical facilities and stand-alone commercial buildings, from Cape Coral, Florida to Charleston, South Carolina.
A majority of the portfolio is weighted toward diversified fixed-income assets — built to perform through every real estate cycle.
Creative affiliations and higher-return projects — pursued only when they never put the firm's stability at risk.

“The only real asset you ever have is your good name.”
Simple, straight dealings in every transaction — and we expect the same from everyone we work with.
We never trade long-term progress for short-term gain. Decisions are measured in generations, not quarters.
We owe our company to those who came before us. Our job is to hand the next generation something stronger than we received.
